RegexPilot is a Mac-native visual regex builder. It turns a regular expression into a railroad diagram you can build, read and edit by dragging blocks — and turns it back into a pattern you can ship.
Visual builder — construct patterns from a categorised palette on a railroad canvas, with an inspector panel for precise edits and full undo/redo.
Plain-English breakdown — every part of the pattern gets a human-readable explanation, linked bidirectionally to the diagram, so an inherited regex stops being a puzzle.
Authentic engines — test against the real regex engine of 21 flavors, including Python, Java, C#, Ruby, PHP, Go, Perl, PostgreSQL and MySQL. Not an approximation: the actual engines ship inside the app, so a pattern built for Python behaves the way Python behaves.
Live match and replace — validate against sample text with live highlighting of matches and capture groups, and compose replacement strings visually.
AI assistance — describe a pattern in plain English and get a working draft, or ask for an explanation of one you inherited. Bring your own key (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and others), or run it entirely offline through LM Studio, Ollama or llama.cpp.
VS Code extension — open a regex literal straight from your editor, edit it visually, and sync the change back.
Pricing: free forever for JavaScript and TypeScript. A one-time €19 purchase unlocks all 21 flavors and every premium feature, with a 30-day trial and no subscription. All v1.x updates included.
Built in Rust and Tauri for macOS 14+, not Electron. Zero tracking, and it runs entirely offline by default.
Comments will be available once the project is launched.
